New Era of Red

As the new race season approaches teams have finally put out their 2025 team kits. Each year the teams design a new car livery and uniforms that will be used the whole season. This year it looks like Ferrari has stepped away from their iconic bright red to a darker and moodier red.

Many fans have speculated that Ferrari has decided to change its color due to Lewis Hamilton joining the team. Lewis Hamilton is a 7x World Champion and a major fashion enthusiast. At his former team, Mercedes, he was a major influence on the color change of the car going from silver to black, which is still kept to this day.

Now you may be wondering why this is such a big deal. Well, the iconic Ferrari red, or Rosso Corsa, has been around since 1907 after red was officially announced as Italy’s racing color. The team, historically being Italian, decided to adopt this as their brand color, and has been making cars with iconic red since. Although Ferrari has multiple shades of red, their Formula 1 car in recent years has been in Rosso Corsa, until now.

Ferrari’s media sites, slowly began transitioning into a darker red. They teased a new shade which got fans excited, Lewis Hamilton would be seen in a new shade of Ferrari red alongside his teammate Charles Leclerc, initiating a new era for Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton.

The driver’s race suits were the first to drop and fans were happy to see that the new shade of red seemed to be in the works. A few weeks later, the livery reveal finally gave us what we were waiting for, a new shade in Rosso Amaranto! Although it may be hard to catch to those unfamiliar with the sport, the new shade is moodier and darker instead of the bright almost orange hue of Rosso Corsa.

A reason many fans are excited about this new shade is because the merch and team kit finally feel “safer” to wear. Red is a strong color and Ferrari merch is known to be bright and difficult to miss. The new red seems to be friendlier towards being able to be styled and more welcoming to those who don’t like bright red.
